Hello fellow Force of Will fans! Like many of you, I’ve been playing trading card games for a long time. I began playing Magic: the Gathering in 2005 and have been competitive ever since. My focus was never to excel as a professional player in Magic, but rather to have fun with friends and enjoy traveling.  With Magic, I have had the honor to travel to the Pro Tour twice; once as a guest and again as a press member. I filmed and edited a documentary with permission from Wizards of the Coast exploring the role of women in the gaming community. I was thrilled to interview big names in the Magic community, such as Luis Scott-Vargas, Zach Hill, Ben Seck, Brian David Marshall, and more! You can watch the full documentary here.

Two years ago I switched focus to Kaijudo, a new game created by Wizards of the Coast. I loved playing Kaijudo and while I am very sad that the game is no longer in print, I still enjoy playing casually with my friends. As a Kaijudo player, I made top 8 or better in 8 championship qualifying events. I also wrote for the website DrawForTurn for a brief period of time.

My boyfriend introduced me to Force of Will via Lackey, and it only took a handful of games before we decided to order some cards. A local retailer agreed to carry the game and I began heavily promoting in our area. So far our local sees 13-20 players weekly for draft and casual games. I have high hopes for the future of Force of Will, which is why I decided to create this website!

I only play cards 1 or 2 nights a week usually. I am a full time pre-med student with hopes of earning an M.D. and working as a physician in the future. I also work full time as a veterinary technician (which is one of the best jobs ever by the way). If that wasn’t enough, I also work as a professor’s assistant and tutor at the university. So if you have any questions about general biology or chemistry, I’m your girl!

I hope you enjoy the website, and please leave comments with what you like, what you don’t like, or what you’d like to see in the future. Happy gaming!

Hey guys, what a tough act to follow! I don’t think my section will be as interesting as Cathy’s, but I do have something to bring to the table. I have been playing card games since the mid 90s. I started with Magic the Gathering and have played more games than I can remember. I am the type of person who wants to excel when I put my mind and effort into something and I feel I have done that, at least on a small scale. I played in two Pro Tour events. Once in Hawaii and the other in Amsterdam. It was an amazing experience, traveling the world to play with the best of the best. I also played in two Kaijudo Championships, and got to meet a lot of great people grinding the qualifiers and events associated with that game as well.

DSC02951I quit MtG to play Kaijudo, and upon the cancellation of Kaijudo there quickly became a void that needed filling. It took me a while to buy into FoW, but once I did it spread like wildfire. I convinced my roommate to play with me on Lackey, he loved it. I convinced my brother to play, he loved it. Finally, Cathy sat down and played, and agreed this would be the next game we would play together. Much like Kaijudo, we set out to grow our local scene. Unlike Kaijudo, we cannot keep a pack on the shelves at our local store. People are buying this stuff like crazy and it is truly awesome to have such an enthusiastic group to play with every week.

My background is in Mathematics, I have a BS in Mathematics and I teach school in North Florida. I try to use my skills as much as I can when I am playing cards, and I’d really like to be able to pass some of that understanding onto my readers here at Void and Moon. I don’t play cards too much more than Cathy does, but I do seem to find myself with a little more free time, as I am not studying for the MCAT. As such, I hope to be able to get some great content up for you guys and really put some love into this site! Thanks for reading.

  1. How does one go about becoming a writer for you guys? I’m an avid force of will player with experience in magic, yugioh, duel masters(kaijudo), and hearthstone. If given the choice, I’d like to do a meta breakdown series, but I am open to any sort of article you guys might need.

  2. Cathy or Tober, would y’all think about doing featured matches at locals every week? I feel like it would help promote the game a little more.
